Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a self-adjustment of a pad in the case of a high load operation as a result of forming a lubricating oil film at a back surface of the pad, by connecting together an oil storage part at a back surface of a bearing pad and an inner circumferential surface of the pad.
CONSTITUTION: An oil storage part 9 is formed at a central portion of a back surface of a bearing pad 20. A lubricating oil on each bearing pad 20 flows into the oil storage part 9 at the back surface passing through a connecting hole 11 due to a difference in the pressure between an inner surface of the bearing pad 20 and a back surface. An oil pressure being equivalent to the pressure of a lubricating oil film formed at the inner surface of the bearing pad is produced at the oil storage part 9 due to a squeeze effect provided between the back surface of the bearing pad 20 and the inner circumferential surface of a bearing outer ring 1, and each bearing pad 20 can freely and slidably move as a result of floating up slightly. And thus, the pad moves in the circumferential direction corresponding to the movement of a rotation shaft 3, and its position can be self-adjusted so that a compound pressure of the lubricating oil film will be dicided at a most suitable value corresponding to a load of the rotation shaft 3.
