Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the sliding resistance to a bearing and raise its load carrying capacity, by fitting a tube in a cylindrical member of the bearing, providing a spiral groove on the inside of the tube, retaining a lubricating fluid in the groove and supporting a shaft on a spiral projection adjacent to the spiral groove.

The tube 1 is fitted in the cylindrical member 4. The member 4 is fitted in an outer cylindrical member 5. The outer member 5 is fitted in a housing. The shaft 6 is supported on the inside surface of the projection 3. The lubricating fluid is forcedly introduced from the spiral groove 2 into the gap between the spiral projection 3 and the shaft 6. As a result, the rotary frictional force on the shaft 6 is reduced and the load carrying capacity of the bearing is raised.
