Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate zeolite containig no free alkalis from a slurry containing zeolite with better efficiency by the procedure in which zeolite present in a reaction liquid slurry is filtered and washed with water to remove most of free alkalies and then regulated its pH to a definite pH or less by addition of an acid and again filtered.
CONSTITUTION: A reaction liquid slurry composed of zeolite crystals and an alkaline aqueous solution is filtered and the filtrate is recovered as the raw material for manufacturing zeolite. The zeolite separated is repeatedly washed with water to an appropriate extent to remove free alkalis and the pH of zeolite, or the pH of the aqueous slurry containing 10 wt% zeolite, is kept at more than 12, and then an acid, e.g., CO2 gas, etc., is blown into the slurry to prepare a zeolite slurry whose pH is adjusted to less than 10, preferably 8 to 10. The zeolite slurry thus obtained is filtered to separate zeolite with good efficiency, and then the zeolite is dried.
