Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently recover available salts contg. no sodium thiosulfate from a filtrate, obtd. by separating anhydrous sodium dithionite from a liquid reactant by filtration, by concentrating the filtrate to crystallize dissolved salts followed by hot filtration.
CONSTITUTION: Anhydrous sodium dithionite is produced using sodium formate as raw material. A liquid reactant contg. the dithionite is filtered to separate the dithionite, and the filtrate is concentrated to remove alcohol and water, thus crystallizing dissolved salts. The conc. filtrate is then hot filtered at about 48.2W60°C by centrifugal separation or other method. By this treatment most of salts available for production of anhydrous sodium dithionite can be separation-recovered as a mixt. contg. no sodium thiosulfate. The salts include sodium sulfite, sodium hydrogensulfite and sodium formate.
