Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare tht titled compound, easily, by reducing 4-hydroxyiminomethylbenzoic acid in an acidic or neutral aqueous medium using a catalyst containing Pd and Rh.
CONSTITUTION: 4-Aminomethylbenzoic acid is prepared by reducing 4-hydroxyiminomethylbenzoic acid in an aqueous medium of pH≤7 (i.e. acidic or neutral) using a catalyst containing Pd and/or Rh, pref. a metallic catalyst composed of Pd and/or Rh.
EFFECT: The hydrogenation reaction of the raw material suspended in the aqueous medium proceeds easily, under relatively low temperature and pressure. The objective compound can be obtained in high yield without producing by-products such as secondary amines.
