Abstract

PURPOSE: Gold plated stainless steel products such as watch bands and cases are anodized in electrolyte solution, whereby active points are deactivated, providing corrosion resistance enhanced to the degree of the original stainless steel.
CONSTITUTION: Gold plated stainless steel products are anodized in electrolyte solution of HNO3 or NaOH, etc., with carbon plate as cathode and current density 0.1 to 1.0A/dm2 for about 1 to 10 minutes. The treatment deactivates active points present in gold plated stainless steel products, providing highly anticorrosive gold plated stainless steel products.
