Abstract
PURPOSE: To let switching operation to take place surely without particularly taking ambient light into consideration by providing a simple automatic bias circuit to a photo detector.
CONSTITUTION: The reset signal a is inputted to reset a holding circuit 6. At the same time, the LED driving and switch changeover signal b is inputted to close a switch 9 and open a switch 8 so as to stop driving of LED and allow the output of a photo detector to input to the holding circuit 6. In the period of tb, the output of an amplifier circuit 5 owing to the effect of the ambient light is sampled and held by the holding circuit 6, the output whereof applies a bias voltage to the amplifier 7. Next, the LED is driven at the fall of the signal b and the output of the sensor 3 is applied to the amplifier circuit 5. At the same time the switches 8, 9 change over and therefore the output of the amplifier 5 is removed of the bias voltage component by the amplifier 7 and the output d becomes the signal of less influential component of the ambient light.
