Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to hold a read signal level constant even if the an accumulation time varies with the period of a clock pulse, by detecting the variation of a charge accumulation type solid pickup element and by making a light-quantity control circuit control the quantity of light of a light source.
CONSTITUTION: Original 1, while being irradiated with light source 7, is read out by charge accumulation type solid pickup element 2, thereby driving video process amplifier 8. Velocity detector 5 detecting the variation in accumulation time of element 2 outputs its detection result to light-quantity control circuit 6, where the quantity of light of light source 7 is controlled.
