Abstract

PURPOSE: To make accurate detection even of dark subjects by hodling respective photodetecting signals when the photodetection signals reach a fixed value, operating the respective photodetection signals during holding period and outputting the operation signal corresponding to the distance up to the subject.
CONSTITUTION: A photodetecting circuit 10 having a plurality of photodetectors outputting the photodetection signals corresponding to the quantity of received light and a sample holding circuit 14 connected to this circuit 10 and holding the respective photodetection signals when the photodetection signals reach a fixed value are provided. In addition, an arithmetic circuit 26 which operates the respective photodetection signals and outputs the operation signal corresponding to the distance up to the subject during the holding period of this sample holding circuit 14 and a display means which is energized by a display driving circuit 28 during the sampling period of the sample holding circuit 14 are provided. Consequently, the device which can accurately detect focal length even for dark subjects is provided.
