Abstract
PURPOSE: To conduct easy and correct discrimination, to control the treatment according to the discrimination, and to continue stable biotreatment by passing the treatment water in a biotreatment tank through a filter, filtering and classifying the sludge into plural meshes, and discriminating the amount, distribution, activity, and the like of the separated sludge.
CONSTITUTION: Treatment water is treated by used of filter elements 2, 3, and 4 of which the largeness of meshes is adjusted by applying a tension to a sponge-like porous body from its periphery, and the sludge is filtered and classified. The sludge classified in the order of largeness is mixed with water and flowed in a pipe 11. A laser beam is projected from a projector 13 to a detection portion 12, and the scattered light is detected by a detector 14. Detection of scattering condition is repeated with the angle α of the detector 14 varied, and the output of the detector 14 is amplified by an amplifier 15, discriminated by a descriminator 16, and displayed on a displayer-recorder 17. The change in received light amount according to the detection angle α is graphically displayed on the displayer-recorder 17, and compared with pre-formed graphs so as to ensily discriminate the condition of sludge and microbes in the water.
