Abstract

CONSTITUTION: When terephthalic acid or difunctional carboxylic acids mainly consisting thereof and ethylene glycol or glycols mainly consisting thereof are directly esterified and then the polycondensation reaction is effected to produce polyester, a titanium compound of at least one selected from alkoxides, chelates of titanium, organic carboxylate salts, and organotitanium compounds having carbontitanium bondages in 0.05W1.0 × 10-4 mole per mol of the acid component, a coblat compound in 0.1W2.0 × 10-4 mole are added, further a soluble calcium compound is added in 0.2W2 × 10-4 mol after the esterification reaction.
