Abstract

PURPOSE: To arrange measuring roll, end detector, ultrasonic tester and measuring roll in this order in the direction of trasferring a steel plate, and to detect internal defects of the steel plate during the transfer thereof after rolling up to about 700°C and simultaneously to measure the thickness of the plate.
CONSTITUTION: When a steel plate 1 is transferred at a high temperature state as rolled, the quantity of transfer is detected by measuring rolls 11 provided at the initial and ultimate positions. The passage of the proximal end of the central part in the width direction of the steel plate 1 is detected by a first end detector 12, and the passages of the proximal ends and the rear ends of respective parts in the width direction are detected by a second end detector 13. The positions on the steel plate where the plate thickness signal and flow detection signal of the steel plate are obtained are measured by first ultrasonic testers 14 provided in correspondence to respective detectors of the second end detector and a pair of second ultrasonic testers movable in the width direction of the steel plate by a servo mechanism, as distance in the width direction and longitudinal direction using the central part of the proximal end of the steel plate as reference point.
