Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable one to operate the engine with less noise and less vibration by constructing the engine with a continuous self-ignition combustion on keeping the stable state of activated thermal atmosphere required for the self-ignition up to the last stage compression stroke of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: The mixed gas supply port 18, air supply port 19 and exhaust port 20 are provided to the cylinder chamber 7 partitioned by a pair of pistons being opposed to each other in the bore of engine case 1. The said port 18 leads to the first and second crank chambers 8, 9 through the scavenging manifold 22 consisting of the first and second main pipes 25, 26, which are connected to the fetch port 23, 24, and collecting pipe 27. The mixed gas is supplied to these crank chambers 8, 9 through the air cleaner 39, carburetor 40 and passages 36, 37, and air is supplied from the scavenging air pump 47 to the port 19.
