Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a high speed development possible by using a photosensitive element, which has its photoconductive substance coated with an insulating layer, and by applying a special liquid development.
CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive element 1, which is prepared by laminating an insulating layer of such a fluorine resin as is chemically and physically stable as well as a photoconductive layer on a rotary drum 2 having a conductive substrate grounded at 3 to the earth, generates an electrostatic image with the use of a charging corona discharger 4 and an exposing charger 5. A preset quantity of liquid developing agent, which contain dimethyl poly-siloxane, carbon, or colored resin and an isorubber liquid, is applied from the valve 17 of a liquid developer 7 through a roller 18 to the photosensitive surface thereby to visualize the electrostatic image. The visible image is transferred to transfer paper 8 through a contact metal roller 9 supplied with a potential. In a cleaning device 10, a fresh developing liquid is supplied from a supply portion 21, and the residual developing agent particles are separated by means of a brush 11 so that they are attracted and scraped by an electrode roller 12 until they are collected for reuse in a container 14. The liquid left can be wiped away by a brush 15.
