Abstract
PURPOSE: To accomplish secure retention of a drive shaft by means of a magnetic rotor fixed to the drive shaft in such a manner as to be confined by a permanent magnet while it fails to be driven.
CONSTITUTION: A motor or a drive shaft of the control rod driving apparatus is provided with a control rod position retaining device 10, which comprises a rotor 12 and a stator 11 The rotor 12 has convex poles 12A to 12D arranged on the circumference at an equi-space, where the position of the rotator is determined by the movement distance of the control rod 1 and the conversion ratio of a converter 2. On the other hand, the stator having convex poles (all permanent magnets) equal in polarity, number and positional relationship to the rotor is arranged on the internal circumference of a cylinder with the drive shaft 3 as center axis and wound with a coil. When the control rod fails to be driven, the pole of the rotor 12 is attracted toward the pole of the stator as opposed thereto by magnetic force. This prevents invertion of the motor shaft 4 due to own weight of the control rod. With current flowing through the coil 13, the magnetic force of the permanent magnet is cancelled whereby the rotor 12 is released from the stator 11.
