Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable carbon graphite contg. a specific amt. of carbon black to tolerate heavy load when used as a clutch, brake, stepless speed change gear, or the like by impregnating the graphite with triallylcyanurate resin, followed by curing. CONSTITUTION:The title material is obtd. by impregnating carbon graphite contg. 20-70, esp. about 50% carbon black with triallyl(iso)cyanurate, followed by curing. Aggregate other than carbon black includes graphite powder, coke breeze, etc. and a lubricant, reinforcing agent such as fiber, abrasives or friction material may be added. By making use of carbon graphite obtd. by impregnating a sintered compact with tar pitch or other carbonizable org. matter, followed by carbonization, the strength can be enhanced.
