Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise the sufficient illuminating effect with the use of a thin plane light source by making an EL cell and a cell drive circuit integrally on an identical substrate. CONSTITUTION:A glass substrate 22, which is semitransparent and which has optical diffusivity, is formed on its lower side with both an upper electrode film 23 under the condition having a transparent portion corresponding to an EL cell 21 and a portion of a circuit pattern on which a cell drive ciruict 35 is mounted. After that, the contact of a metal plate 26, which is coated with an insulating surface film 24 of barium titanate and an EL substance, the seal by a moisture preventing sheal 27 and the forming of a shield electrode 28 are accomplished to constitute the EL cell 21. Thus, the cell drive circuit 35 is mounted thereon. As a result, the liquid crystal cell, which is arranged above the illuminator 20, is irradiated uniformly all over the surface by a thin plane light source, and the connection between the illuminator 20 and the watch module can be performed by a low voltage system of 1.5 V.
