Abstract
PURPOSE: To save a cost, to promote a digestive reaction, and to reduce a color of processed water, by using limes, such as calcium hydroxide etc., as an alkaline agent in a nitrifying process which denitrifies biologically swage system sludge.
CONSTITUTION: Ammonia in sewage 1 is nitrified into a nitric oxide matter in a nitrifying bath 3. At that time the nitrifying reaction means an acid-making reaction, and pH will lower gradually. But, since an optimum pH of nitrification bacteria is 6 to 9.5, it is maintained within the optimum pH by adding an alkaline agent. Limes, such as unslaked lime, slaked lime etc., are used as the alkaline agent. Carbonic acid in nitrifying process in difused in a gaseous state, a nitrifying reaction can be promoted, and a color composition in processed water can be cleared off due to a synergism of a physical and chemical action of calcium in calcium hydroxide and a microbic action without any fear for scale sedimentation of a calcium carbonate.
