Abstract

PURPOSE: To constitute the supply voltage detecting circuit completely in IC, by forming the detecting circuit with reference voltage generating circuit, supply voltage dividing circuit, and voltage comparator circuit.
CONSTITUTION: When a reference voltage generating circuit A is formed with P type MOS transistor TR1 and N type MOS transistor TR2, and resistance 3, potential Vs at point a is the sum of threshold voltage VTP of TR1 and threshold voltage VTN of TR2. Even if the voltages VTP, VTN fluctuate individually, such discrepancy is canceled and the sum is always stable. A voltage comparator circuit B consisting of P type MOS transistors TR4, 6 and N type MOS transistors TR5, 7 has two input terminals, of which one is connected to point (a) and the other to contact (b) of resistances 8, 9. By properly selecting the resistances 8, 9, when the battery reaches the life end voltage, an output is delivered from the comparator circuit B, so that the life of the battery may be detected. Thus, since the effect of variation in IC process of each circuit and temperature coefficients may be kept to a minimum, the circuit may be completely designed in IC.
