Abstract

PURPOSE: A low alloy steel containing Mn, Cr, and Si as basic components is heat rolled at a specified temperature and wound below 500°C, so that a high-ductile, low-yield ratio type, high-tensile steel plate is produced.
CONSTITUTION: A steel material containing as necessities C<0.20%, Mn: 0.5 to 2.5%, Cr: 0.05 to 1.0%, and as required Si: less than 1% is heat rolled at a temperature of Ar3+60°C to produce steel plate. The plate is wound into coil below 500°C to provide plate having a tensile strength of more than 40 kg/mm2 and yield ratio less than 70%. To further reduce yield ratio, the steel material of the above composition is heat rolled at a temperature of two ferrite and austenite phase coexistent zone, and then wound below 500°C. The reduction in this case is less than 40% so as to control the residual process strain.
