PURPOSE: To make such temperature measurements possible as are proper for a small portion or a portion requiring for quick response and as is high accurate while having a high resolution by organically coupling a thermometer using a resonance absorption phenomena and a thermo-couple thermometer.
CONSTITUTION: A temperature detecting portion 1 made of a thermo-couple junction 11 is arranged at an object to be measured (at temperature tm), whereas a reference block 2 is preset at temperature tr. Digital signals Vr corresponding to the temperature tr are generated from a resonance absorption temperature 5. A calculating circuit 7 read the signals Vr to calculate the temperature tr. Then, the circuit 7 calculates the thermal electromotive force er of a thermo-couple junction 12 at the temperature tr. On the other hand, the circuit 7 reads the output of an A/D converter 6, i.e., the difference ΔE in the electromotive force between the junctions 11 and 12 and adds or subtracts the difference ΔE and the electromotive force er thereby to obtain the thermal electromotive force em at the junction 11. Moreover, the measured temperature tm is obtained from the relationship between the temperature and the electromotive force. The temperature tm thus obtained uses the temperature tr as a reference.
