PURPOSE: To substitution precipitate Co from an aq. soln. contg. Co ions in a high yield by simple facilities and operation, by adding metallic iron to the soln. under an atmosphere of an inert gas while specifying teh temp. and pH.
CONSTITUTION: To an aq. soln. contg. Co ions is added 2W3 times as much metallic iron powder for substitution as the theoretical amt. under an atmosphere of an inert gas such as N2 at above 60, pref. 70W80°C and pH≤5.5, pref. 5W3. By this method the surface of the metallic iron added is kept always fresh in the soln., and the Co ions and metallic iron are reacted to allow cementation to proceed.
