Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable both substrate opposing conducting electrodes to be surely connected while employing a multiple element production system by covering the electrode bodies formed near sealing hole parts with a specific material then providing an orientation controlling Si oxide film.
CONSTITUTION: A conduction connecting electrode body 17 is provided on a substrate 15 near the liquid crystal sealing hole part and conduction connecting part 16 provided on the side of the liquid crystal display element and further a heat decomposable material film 18 such as nitrocellulose lacquer is applied so as to cover the electrode body 17 of the sealing port part. Since the film 18 is coated on the extreme end part where the electrode body 17 extends up to the end face of the substrate 15, it does not impair the effective display region 19 of the element. Next, a SiO diagonal vapor deposition film for orientation control is provided, after which the substrate 15 is sealed to the other substrate by way of a frit glass part 20 for sealing and assembling. At this time, the film 18 is fired away by the sealing temperature of the glass part 20 and the diagonal vapor deposition film thereon is simultaneously broken down and flies off or even if it remains, it is porous and does not impair conductivity.
