Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain running cost saving by securing effectively combustion air quantity necessary for the combustion corresponding to heating slabs loaded into the heating furnace to required temperatures and operating plural fans supplying combustion air efficiently.
CONSTITUTION: Air is supplied to a heating furnace 1 through an air pipe 2 which is connected to fans 3---, and the operation of each fan 3 and the opening and closing of a damper 6 installed at the suction port 5 of each fan 3 are controlled by the output of a computer 7 via changeover switches 8 and 9 respectively. This computer 7 calculates the inside temperature of the heating furnace 1 to make the loading temperature of each slab into the heating furance 1 and the time of keeping each slab in the furance appropriate, and calculates necessary fuel quantity and necessary combustion air quantity based on the calculated temperature. Further, it is so constructed as to determine necessary number of fans 3 to be operated from said necessary combustion air quantity and to control said changeover switches 8 and 9 by its output.
