Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound, a starting material of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, etc., in high yield in one step, by the reaction of a halogenated acetic acid alkyl ester, CO and an alcohol under pressure using a catalyst of Co-carbonyl anion and NH3.
CONSTITUTION: A dialkyl ester of malonic acid is prepared by the reaction of a halogenated acetic acid alkyl ester, CO and an alcohol under the pressure of 2W50 kg/cm2G in the presence of NH3, using a catalyst of Co-carbonyl anion. The compound used as the catalyst is the one that forms Co-tetracarbonyl anions [Co(CO)- 4], e.g. dicobaltoctacarbonyl, except monomers.
