Abstract

PURPOSE: A remover for basic gases which is regenerable and can remove basic gases in a gas selectively and effectively, prepared by adding an acid to a support consisting primarily of allophane.
CONSTITUTION: A support consisting of allophane alone or more than 60 % allophane is maxed with various kinds of inorganic acids and organic acids, e.g., acetic acid, oxalic acid, etc., preferably with sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, in an amount of 0.5 to 80 wt % on the basis of support. The basic gas remover is brought into contact with a basic gas flowing at a space valocity of approx. 50 to l0000 hr-1 at a temperature of 0 to 150°C. The basic gas removing capability of the basic gas remover used can be completely regenerated by the procedure in which the remover used is brought into contact with water to remove basic compounds or salts and then treated with an acid aqueous solution to add an acid to the support.
