Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a D-A converter featuring a simple structure and high performance by using the high-speed Josephson junction element featuring a smaller amount of power loss than the semiconductor element or the like.
CONSTITUTION: The D-A converter shown in the diagram converts the binary information of 12 bits into the information of octal 4 digits. The D-A conversion part of the 1st digit is formed with Josephson elements J1∼J0, resistance R1∼R3 plus load resistance RL1. So is with other digits. Bit signal B1 of the binary lowest rank is applied to element J1; next bit signal B2 is applied to J2 and J3; and bit signal B3 is applied to elements J4∼J7 respectively. Thus, the lower 3 digits of the binary number is converted into the lower one digit of the octonary number, and the output signal is obtained as signal 01 which flows through RL1.
