Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable distribution of light to plural fibers to be performed readily with low loss by disposing the end faces of the optical fibers on the plane inclusive of the focus on the light incident face side of an optical lens and providing a reflector which makes variable. the direction of the reflected light to the face opposite from the incident face. CONSTITUTION:A wedge type circular cylinder 21 having an angle alpha to the perpendicular of the lens axis is provided to a self-convergent type lens 20 having a length 1/4 the periodic length and the surface 22 thereto is a reflecting mirror. The optical fiber 23 in which light comes in by propagating therein is on the axis of the lens 21 and other optical fibers 24 thru 29 are provided equidistantly around the fiber 23. As the wedge type circular cylinder 21 is turned by each 60 deg. with respect to the lens axis, the light from the optical fiber 23 is reflected by the reflecting face 22 and subsequently enters the optical fibers 24 thru 29 and therefore turning the wedge type circular cylinder 21 suitably, enables the light of the fiber 23 to be distributed to the arbitrary optical fiber out of the optical fibers 24 thru 29.
