Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A bicyclooctane devivative of formula I: (R is 4W7C alkyl group; R1 is H or lower alkyl group; X is vinylene or ethylene chain; A is lowe alkylene or single bond).
EXAMPLE: Bicyclo[2.2.1] heptane-endo-2-hydroxymethyl-endo-3-caroboxy -endo-5- hydroxymethyl-γ-lactone.
USE: Medicines expected to have anti-agglutinating actions on the blood platelet.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II: (Y is H or OH-protecting group) is reacted with a phosphorane of formula III: (R' is aryl group) prepared from the witting reagent in the presence of a solvent, e.g. diethyl ether, and, if present, the OH- protecing group is removed, and , if desired, the reaction product is esterified to give the objective compound of formula I.
