Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce Fe-Nb of Nb; 16 to 20% whithout decreasing the yield of Nb by mixing metal iron, iron oxide, metal Al in the form of powder to Fe-Nb of Nb>55% and letting the mixture undergo thermit reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Fe-Nb of Nb>55% is crushed to sizes of 1 to 5 mm. For this, scraps of low carbon steels and iron oxide of mill scales, etc. are used. In this case, the iron oxide becomes the oxygen supply source of thermit reaction. To this is added powder Al of 100 to 105% of thermoretical reaction quantity of iron oxide to oxygen and further a slag making agent such as lime or other is added at a suitable amount and these are mixed.
