Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance desurfurizing reaction efficiency by specifying weight ratio of lime nitrogen to calcium carbide in components, an adding amount of magnesium fluoride, sodium fluoride, cryolite, sodium fluorosilicate or the like and the like. CONSTITUTION:Lime nitrogen with particle size of 3-15mm is mixed with calcium carbide with particle size of 0.1-5mm at 20/80-65/35 ratio and, to 100pts.wt. of the obtained total amount, 1-8pts.wt. of one or more of magnesium fluoride, sodium fluoride, cryolite, sodium fluorosilicate are mixed. Moreover, to 100 parts of the obtained composition, 3-30pts.wt. of solid carbon containing substance is compounded to obtain a molten iron desulfurizing agent. If this desulfurizing agent is used, a desulfurizing reaction is promoted by a mutual action of components thereof and, moreover, exhaustivity of slag after desulfurizing treatment is enhanced by an action of a carbon containing substance. Moreover, residual calcium carbide amount within slag becomes low and an iron component lost by slag exhausion can be reduced.
