Abstract

PURPOSE:The desulfurizer for molten iron which is composed of quicklime and aluminum residual ash, has high desulfurization performance and permits effective utilization of by-products. CONSTITUTION:Aluminum residual ash produced at the production of metal aluminum is compounded at 70-30% to quicklime 30-70% and depending upon cases, material composed primarily of B2O3 such as borax, boric acid, etc. is further added at 10% or under, preferably 1-10% to prepare the desulfurizer for molten iron. The addition of the material composed primarily of B2O3 enables the slag- off characteristic of the desulfurizer to be enhanced further.
