Abstract
PURPOSE:To constrain the chattering thereby to shorten the duration by applying such drive signals as impart positive acceleration during change-over operation and negative acceleration during a subsequent preset time so that a drive member is maintained at a preset position. CONSTITUTION:For example, two fixed optical waveguides 7 and 8 and a facing movable optical waveguide 6 are interchangeably connected in response to the drive signals to be fed to a drive member 5. This drive member 5 is made of an element of a bimorph construction having an electrostrictive effect. The drive singnals to be fed to the drive member 5 upon the interchangeable connection effect connection between the waveguides 6 and 8 at a voltage -V1 and the connection between the waveguides 6 and 7 at a voltage +V1. In this instance, the vibrations of the member 5 are constrained by the voltages +V2 and -V3, and the connecting time required for the interchangeable connections between the waveguides 7 and 8 by the drive member 5 can be shorted by setting the voltages +V2 and -V3 at considerable high levels.
