Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a coated sintered hard alloy member with superior wear resistance obtd. by coating the surface of a sintered product of carbides, nitrides, etc. of 4a-6a group metals with carboxides, etc. of 4a and 5a group metals and raising the dissolved oxygen content of the coated layer toward the surface. CONSTITUTION:Powder of one or more kinds of hard cpds. selected from sarbides, nitrides, carbonitrides and carboxynitrides of the 4a-6a group metals is mixed with powder of one or more kinds of the Fe group metals, as a binder, contg. one or more kinds of metals selected from the Cr group metals, Si and Al. The mixt. is pressurized, molded, and sintered at a high temp. to form a sintered hard alloy substrate. This substrate is then coated with a high m.p. sintered hard alloy material consisting of carboxides, nitroxides or carbonitroxides of 4a and 5a group metals in which B, Si, etc. are dissolved. The dissolved oxygen content of this coated layer is monotonously raised from the joined plane to the substrate toward the surface. Thus, a coated sintered hard alloy member is obtd. having very superior wear resistance.
