Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the production of black spot and greatly improve the apperance of an immediately lighted-on flurorescent lamp wherein a transparent electroconductive film is coated on the inside surface of a glass tube, by providing an amalgam making substance such as In, Cd, Sn, etc. in the glass tube.
CONSTITUTION: SnCl4 is dissolved in ethanol. A small amount of HCl and HF are added to the solution. Then, the solution is sprayed into one end of the glass tube having an outer diameter of about 32 mm and a length of about 1200 mm and heated at a temperature of 560°C and is sucked from the oppoite end so that the transparent film 2 is produced on the inside surface of the glass tube 1. After the film is washed in distilled water, a fluorescent substance 3 is coated on the fim and baked. Electrodes 4, 4' are attached to both the ends of the glass tube. The amalgam making substance 5, 5' such as In, Cd, Sn, etc. is coated on the stem parts of the electrodes 4, 4' and may be coated on metal rings 6, 6' of the electrodes or on the central part 7 of the lamp.
