  • Treatment Of Liquids With Adsorbents In General (AREA)

Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a liquid adsorber the operation of which is simplified with such a constitution that movement of an adsorbent layer to the upper part, discharge of a used adsorbent from the upper part and supply of a fresh adsorbent to the lower part are carried out by one process.
CONSTITUTION: Liquid (a) to be treated is introduced from strainer 3 into the upper part of adsorbent layer 2 such as activated carbon, subjected to adsorption treatment while flowing down through layer 2, and discharged as treated liquid (b) from the lower opening of conic cap 5 through strainer 4. Pushing-up liquid (c) is raised from the lower opening of cap 5 in the direction of arrows M, and layer 2 is moved upward with the liquid streams to discharge B an upper used adsorbent from strainer 3 together with the streams. As a result, adsorbent 21 in cap 5 is reduced, and adsorbent 22 in tank 8 is dropped through straight pipe 10 according to gravity. That is, adsorbent 21 in cap 5 reduced owing to movement of layer 2 to the upper part is supplied with adsorbent 22 falling through pipe 10.
