Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively remove NOx in exhaust gas contg. NOx and SOx, and to prevent adhesion of ammonium sulfate to the heating surface of a heat exchanger by contacting the exhaust gas to reduction catalyst in the presence of a specific amt. of NH3 and adding inorg. fine particles such as Al(OH)3 powder, followed by introduction into the heat exchanger.
CONSTITUTION: NH3 is added to exhaust gas contg. Nox and SOx so that the molar ratio of NH3 to NOx becomes above 1, and the gas is contacted to reduction catalyst such as V or Fe to decompose the NOx. To the denitrated exhaust gas are added 1W200 mg/Nm3 of inorg. fine particles of about 0.1W100μ in diameter, e.g. Al(OH)3, zeolite, Shirasu or blast furnace slag. They are then introduced into a heat exchanger. The addn. may be carried out continuously during operation of the exchanger of suitably in accordance with the condition of adhesion of ammonium sulfate to the heating surface of the exchanger.
