Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the thermal impact resistance of a casing used in calcination of molded ceramics and to prevent occurence of cracks at ordinary temp. by constituting the casing with porous heat resistant members made of cordierite, etc.
CONSTITUTION: In calcination of molded ceramics such as ferrite in a calcination furnace, a casing is used to mount or enclose the ceramics in the furnace. Casing 6 is constituted with base 7 and cover 8 unified with a frame. A heat resistant material such as alumina or cordierite is used as the material for casing 6, and casing 6 is made of ceramics of three-dimensional network skeleton structure with a voids of 70W90%. Since the material is porous, no crack due to molding strain occurs when casing 6 is molded. A gas formed by burning a binder in the ferrite material in use is easily passed through the pores of the porous material, so casing 6 requires no notch. Casing 6 is light weight and is handled with superior work efficiency.
