Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the separation membrane apparatus with excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistance by sealing end parts of a porous hollow glass fiber with a specific inorg. binder.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow fiber is formed from porous glass which is high silicate glass containing SiO2 and, when the end parts of the fiber bundle 4 comprising said hollow fibers are arranged in the mold of a partition wall along with a powder mixture of ceramics having a negative coefficient of thermal expansion obtained by baking for 5hr and an inorg. binder having a softening point of 1,000°C or less such as Pylex glass or aluminosilicate and heated to the softening point or more of the binder and cooled, the partition wall 6 having ceramics powder dispersed in the binder thereof and glass fibers penetrating therethrough is obtained.
