Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance heat insulating effect and to thereby improve combustibility of mixture in an internal combustion engine, by fitting a hollow ceramic body to the inner surface of combustion chamber.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow body 3 of silicon carbide porcelain is shrink fitted to the inner surface of another hollow body 1 made of dense material consisting of aluminum chelate, lithium aluminum silicate, machinable ceramics consisting principally of mica, so as to form heat insulating members thereon. These heat insulating members are then shrink fitted to the inside of metal container 2, and they are fitted to the inner surface of combustion chamber as a unit.
