Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the radiation efficiency with a higher heating speed at ignition by means of a film formed on the surface of the porous honey-comb ceramic in such a manner as to be higher in the heat conductivity than that of the base body.
CONSTITUTION: Mixed with an inorganic binding material such as glass aluminasol, silicasol, and alkali silicate, a material with a higher heat conductivity (platinium, silver, magnesium, or the like) coats the combustion surface of a porous honey-comb ceramic as shown by 2 and then baked. In this manner, a combustion plate 1 with a numerical aperture of 8.8%, for example, in terms of a square plate of 65×50× 12.5 mm on which a total of 245 holes each measuring 1.1 mmϕ are given by arranging eight holes around one quadrangular pyramid at an interval of 3 mm. When made of a silica alumina ceramic fiber, the base body is coated with a electrically fused magnesia single crystal powder and a lithium silicate solution. When made of silimanite, it is coated with a silver paste composed of powdered silver, powdered glass, an organic binder, and an organic solvent.
