Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to prescribe the repetitive frequency of a repetitive signal with high precision, and also to obtain both steep rise and fall of a signal waveform, by composing a Schmitt trigger circuit of MOS elements entirely. CONSTITUTION:The astable multivibrator circuit consists of input circuit 21 and Schmitt trigger circuit 20, which is composed of MOS inverters 14 and 15, p-channel MOSFETs 16 and 17, and n-channel MOSFETs 18 and 19. When voltage Va rises gradually up to higher threshold voltage VthH of circuit 20, voltage Vc is at level ''1'' and FET11 is cut off. Then, when Va decreases at the time constant of resistance 12 and capacitor 13 down to lower threshold voltage VthL of circuit 20, Vc is inverted into ''0'' and FET11 turns off, so that repetitive signal Vout with a constant period and constant pulse width can be obtained through the repetitive operation. At this time, since the threshold voltage is determined only inside of circuit 20, the repetitive frequency can be prescribed with high precision and no back-gate bias is applied, so that the waveform will becomes steep.
