Abstract
PURPOSE:To limit the quantity of emitted hydrocarbon below a predetermined value during the deceleration such as engine braking, by delaying the ignition time only in the idling. CONSTITUTION:A non-idling ignition time circuit 30A and an idling ignition time circuit 30B, which are selectively shifted for each other by a switching means 28, are provided in a primary circuit 30 of an ignition unit. An arm 16 and a detection circuit 22 serve as a means for electrically detecting the state of non-idling or idling in connection with the opening or closing of a throttle valve 12. The idling ignition time circuit 30B and the non-idling ignition time circuit 30A are shifted for each other by the output of the detecting means to adjust the idling ignition time independently of the non-idling ignition time. Only the idling ignition time is delayed.
