Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a Ti-contg. ultra low carbon cold rolled steel sheet with improved surface properties and deep drawability by adding Si for deoxidation to ultra low carbon molten steel so that Al and certain Si are left, and further adding a fixed quantity of Cr.
CONSTITUTION: A steel consisting of C; 0.001W0.03%, Mn≤0.45% Si; 0.03W 0.25%, sol. Al≤0.03%, Ti; 0.02W0.3%, and the balance iron and impurities. The atomic concn. ratio of Ti/(C+N+S+O) is regulated to 0.8'2.0 with S≤0.015% and 0≤0.015. Cr; 0.3W0.5% may be added as required. After regulating the component of this steel, an ingot of this steel is made, hot rolled, cold rolled, and annealed to obtain a cold rolled slab. This slab contains little TiO2, Al2O3, etc. and has good cleanliness by the combined deoxidation effect of Si and Al. The addn. of Cr controls precipitation of TiC, etc., resulting in superior surface properties and deep drawability.
