Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the machines of a power plant from being damaged, by discharging steam from a reheater through a branch conduit having a reheater steam discharge valve installed at the upstream side of a reheat turbine to immediately return the turbine to a rated rotational frequency when the load has fallen drastically.
CONSTITUTION: The branch conduit 15 having the reheater steam discharge valve 14 is connected to a high-temperature reheat pipe 7. The discharge valve 14 is opened by a closing signal for an intercept valve 8. When the load has fallen drastically due to such as a trouble in a power transmission line, a steam regulating valve 3 and the intercept valve 8 are quickly closed to enclose the steam in the reheater 6 but the dischatge valve 14 is opened. Therefore, the steam is discharged from the reheater 6 to a steam condenser 12 through the dischatge valve 14 and a temperature reducer 16 which reduces the temperature of the steam. As a result, the steam pressure in the reheater 6 drops and the speed of the turbine does not rise. The rotational frequency of the turbine is kept constant by the control characteristic of the steam regulating valve 3.
