Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure an assured protection of the driver circuit by switching on the thyristor to break the driving circuit after the time which is determined by the threshold level of the thyristor in the protecting circuit and the time constant of the friangular wave generated at the triangular wave generator circuit. CONSTITUTION:When the short-circuit occurs at the terminal unit, the positive input terminal of short-circuit detector circuit 19 turns to the H-level in steps. And the negative input terminal features a lower level of potential than the positive input terminal via reference voltage generator 16 and reference voltage memory circuit 17. Then the output of circuit 19 is supplied to triangular wave generator circuit 21. And thyristor Th is switched on after the time which is determined by the time constant of the triangular wave generated at circuit 21 and the threshold level L2 of Th in protecting circuit 18. Thus, the operation of driving circuit 5 is broken to reset circuit 19. In this way, the short-circuit detection is performed with only the relative level difference. Thus, nearly a constant short-circuit detection time is secured at all times, protecting the driving circuit in an assured and proper way.
