Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium that can be recorded with direct light by combining conductors connecting conductive base layers and photoconductive layers and magnetic materials and disposinga multiplicity of the units comprising partitioning the circumferences thereof with non-magnetic materials between both layers mentioned above.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic layer 2 of high resistance soft ferromagnetic material, a photoconductive layer 3 and a transparent electrode layer 4 are laminated on a conductive base layer 1 and a multiplicity of the units comprising segmenting the conductors 5 electrically connecting the base layer 1 and photoconductive layer 3 and magnetic materials 7 of high resistance rigid ferromagnetic material disposed with 5 in-between by means of partition walls 6 of non-magnetic material are constituted to provide the magnetic recording material. When a voltage is applied between the transparent electrode layer 4 and base layer 1 and the light image of the original is radiated to the surface of 4, then a current flows through the conductors 5 at the portions where the light has been radiated. This causes the magnetic materials 7 to be magnetized and the magnetism thereof to remain in that state, thus making possible development by the use of magnetic toner. The abovementioned recording latent images may be readily erased through magnetical erasing by heating the magnetic materials 7 at above curie temperature.
