Abstract

PURPOSE: After impregnated with a specific pretreatment agent, the base material is coated with a varnish containing a novolak type plenolic resin and the pretreatment agent, and laminated to produce said flame-retardant laminate with outstanding heat resistance, mechanical properties, and processability.
CONSTITUTION: A methylolated melamine or methylolated guanamine is made into an aqueous solution to prepare the pretreatment agent. The base material is impregnated or coated with the pretreatment agent in an amount of about 5W20 wt% and adequately heat treated. The resulting base material is coated with a solution of a novolak type phenolic resin containing a methylolated melamine or guanamine as a flame retarder and dried to form prepregs. Prescribed sheets of prepregs are stacked and heated under pressure.
EFFECT: The laminates can readily be produced without cracking even when they are increased in thickness.
