Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce an adsorptive structure of superior heat resistance, chemical resistance, adsorptivity and mechanical strength by sticking thermosetting resins to mixed sheets such as active carbon fibers, cellulosic fibers and glass fibers and further firing the same in an inert gas atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Cellulosic fibers of 20W40wt% and asbestos fibers or glass fibers are mixed to active carbon fibers of ≥500m2/g in specific surface area to a slurry form. This is made into a mixed sheet with a cylinder machine or a Fourdrinier machine. Thermosetting resins such as phenolic resins or epoxy resins are impregnated or coated in or on this mixed sheet. This is then dried at about ≤150°C at which the resin does not set and is formed to a shape such as plate or corrugated shape. This molding is heated to 200W800°C to set in an inert gas atmosphere comprising essentially N2, Ar, He, etc., whereby the adsorptive structure is produced.
