Abstract

PURPOSE: Efficient process for producing the title compound by oxidizing p-xylene, which comprises recycling, to the oxidizer, the solvent recovered from the condensable vent gas from reactor and freed from water and the mother liquor after isolation of terephthalic acid from the oxidate slurry obtained in the additiona oxidation step.
